Preliminary Task #2 Lighting
For Preliminary Task #2, we are hoping to employ the use of low, dark lighting in certain areas to create suspense, and to create the impression that she is not alone from the start. In addition to this, it would be cool to have a shift in the lighting during the moments which she is hallucinating, leaving a clue that all of this is potentially in her head, and not actually happening.
However, this effect could potentially be achieved during the post-production process, or by putting stockings or a piece of tulle over the camera lens.
In order to maintain the atmosphere of the film, we will avoid the use of bright lights, which will leave little room to effectively build suspense through the setting. Instead, the lighting will be rather dim, but still have enough light for the audience to clearly see what is going on.
In order to create the desired lighting effects, we will play around with the house lights (inside and out), as well as the lighting gear, positioning the lights in different angles and positions to create a balance of shadow and lights.
Kitchen Lighting Inspiration:
Ideally, we would be able to light the kitchen in a similar way, just with a little more light so that the audience can more clearly see what is going on.
