Preliminary Task #2 Costumes & Props:
Costumes:
Our sequence follows our main character, Isabella, who is home alone, falling prey to a man who has broken into her house and drugs her.
Initially, she will be wearing relatively formal attire as she comes home from a long day at work. This will include a white button up shirt with a black mock-neck turtleneck layered underneath, tucked either into jeans or some formal pants. In terms of shoes, she will be wearing either black boots, or white sneakers which match the look. With this outfit, her hair will either be loose, or tied back into a slick, low ponytail.
In terms of her second costume, she will be wearing sweatpants and an oversized shirt, with her hair thrown up in a messy bun. This highlights the fact that she has just come home from a long day at work, and that she wishes to be comfortable. Also, by dressing her in these comfortable clothes, it emphasises the fact that her house is supposed to be a safe space, sheltering her from harm.
Additionally, our antagonist, Night will be wearing ordinary clothes, with a plain, dark coloured t-shirt as well as some casual, well-fitting pants. This is to emphasise the fact that he is an ordinary man, and that everyone has a dark side to them.
Glass of Water:
The glass of water is a key prop in this sequence, as it is the means through which the antagonist drugs the main character Isabella.
The glass of water will switch between having clear and orange liquid throughout the film, denoting that something is amiss, and suggests that the whole thing is all in her mind.
In order to achieve the orange colour of the 'drugged' water, we will be using a Berroca tablet as it produces a vibrant, orange colour when dissolved.
Keys:
The house keys will be used during the opening seconds of the sequence as our main character opens the door.
